Rebecca Otto releases third TV ad
in race for State Auditor
First time TV has been used
on this scale in State Auditor race
October 26, 2006
SAINT PAUL - Rebecca Otto today
announced the release of her third TV ad of the race, titled "Making
sure the numbers add up."
"This is the first time TV has been utilized at this scale in a
Minnesota State Auditor race," said Otto. "We're very proud of the
ads."
The third ad focuses attention on several of the accounting errors Otto
has found in State Auditor and other official government reports. "This
is the person who's supposed to be catching errors," said Otto, "and
when I'm finding errors in her reports to taxpayers that are the size of
the annual budgets of Bloomington and Duluth combined, people need to
know about that."
The previous ad, which is still running on KARE-11, highlights Otto's
non-partisan track record, talking about how she brought finance
commissioners of both democratic and republican parties together behind
her call for a "truly balanced" state budget, and united Walter Mondale
and Arne Carlson behind her efforts.
Judi Dutcher, Arne Carlson, and Mark Dayton, the last 3 State Auditors
of both parties, all say they are backing Otto.
"We need to rebuild the reputation of the office and restore a
non-partisan approach which is not guided by politics but by sound
auditing principles," Dutcher said. "Rebecca Otto has a non-partisan
approach that is similar to mine."
Carlson, a Republican who held the post for twelve years, agrees. "I
think that independence has been lost," he says of Anderson, so he's
switched his support to Otto.
If Otto wins on November 7, she will be the first woman Democrat to be
elected to the job.
